CAT Plus installation steps
This document provides dot points for the installation of the CAT Plus suite. Our detailed user documentation can be found at http://help.pencs.com.au/cat.htm for CAT4 and at http://help.pencs.com.au/topbar.htm for Topbar
CAT4
No administrator rights are needed to install CAT4. If multiple users share a workstation, CAT4 needs to be installed in each user profile
- Start Internet Explorer and go to http://install.pencs.com.au/ClickOnce/CAT4/publish.htm
- Click on 'Install' and wait for the download/install to finish, allow installation when prompted
- Log on to CAT4 using your username/password
- From the dashboard, choose any view to display the CAT4 user interface
- Click on Edit/Preferences
- Enter the details for GP application, Extract Directory, Saved Filters and Saved Views. Practice ID is not required, practice name and postcode should be entered
- Directory location should be on a shared network drive accessible to all CAT4 users. Local drive C: is not recommended even if there is only one user as it is normally not backed up.
- Depending on clinical system used, click on the respective tab for the clinical system and configure billing systems and other required details. The clinical systems tabs provide additional information for the configuration. Please refer to the full installation guide for details.
Configure Send To PAT CAT
After installing and configuring CAT4 you can set up 'Send To PAT CAT' to enable the easy upload of de-identified data to your PAT CAT server. The full guide is available at http://help.pencs.com.au/patcat.htm
- From the CAT4 user interface click on Edit/Send Data Extract Locations
- On the 'New Configuration' tab enter a location name like your PHN name or similar
- Choose the Send Data Method 'Send to PAT CAT' from the drop down menu
- Click on 'Add' which will open a new tab
- Enter the webservice of your PAT CAT server (contact PEN CS support if unsure about this)
- Enter the username and password you have configured in PAT CAT for the practice. This is a different username from the CAT4 logon and is created by the PHN in PAT CAT not by Pen CS.
- Click on the Test button to test the connection – if all is working you will receive a notification. If no connection can be established please contact Pen CS support
Topbar
Topbar requires the installation of a server component on the clinical system server (where MD3 or Best Practice is installed) and a workstation component on each machine. Only the server component needs to be installed by an administrator. If multiple users share a workstation, Topbar needs to be installed in each user profile. Full details are available at http://help.pencs.com.au/topbar.htm
Server installation
- Log in to http://topbar.pencs.com.au with your username and password
- Click on the clinic you are installing (if multiple clinics are displayed)
- Click on 'Download Clinic Server' to start the download of the latest server installer
- Start the installation by running the downloaded installer .exe file
- Depending on your setup you might have to install additional components (.net 4.0 and/or SQL Server)
- Configure the clinical and billing system used
Workstation installation
- Log in to http://topbar.pencs.com.au with your username and password
- Click on the clinic you are installing (if multiple clinics are displayed)
- Click on 'Download and Configure Topbar' to start the download of the latest workstation installer
- Start the installation by running the downloaded installer .exe file
- Log on using your Topbar username and password and configure clinical and billing system
- Topbar will start
- Log on to the clinical system and if desired configure Topbar to start with Windows and/or to log on with the clinical system in the Topbar settings
PAT CAT
PAT CAT will be installed by Pen CS on the PHN server. No installation at the practice is required. Practice staff will need the username and password created by the PHN PAT CAT administrator to log on to PAT CAT through their internet browser. The URL for PAT CAT needs to be provided to the practice, Pen CS support can provide that information. We are planning to create a link on the CAT4 dashboard to PAT CAT to further increase the integration of the CAT Plus products.
