Identify patients eligible for lung cancer screening (A)

Rationale:

The national lung screening cancer program

Target:

Patients aged 50 to 70 who are daily smokers, irregular smokers, or ex-smokers, and who have no diagnosis of lung cancer. 

CAT Starting Point:

  1. CAT Open - CAT4 view (all reports) loaded 
  2. Population Extract Loaded and Extract Pane “Hidden”
    1. Filter Pane open and under the ‘General’ tab, ' Active Patients’ (3x <2 years) selected (this step can be omitted if you want to search for all patients).

Filter Steps 

On the General tab, enter age criteria (start age 50 to 70), activity status (Any) 

 

 

On the Conditions tab, select ‘Cancer’ and under Thoracic and Respiratory 'No' for Lung 

 

 

Now all filter criteria have been set, click on 'Recalculate' to apply the filter: 

 

 

Report Steps 

Select the "Smoking" tab, select ‘Daily Smoker’, ‘Irregular Smoker’ and ‘Ex Smoker’ 

 

Navigate to the 'Visits' tab by using the arrow keys on the right-hand side of the report tabs. Either click ‘Select All’ to include all providers, or select individual providers by clicking their names. 

 

 

To create a cross-tabulation report and see the patients, click on the 'Report' icon at the top of your screen.
